Janice Rutherford and Acquanetta Warren belong on the Fontana City Council.

Both are leaders committed to getting things done - from building a new library to rejuvenating a community theater to creating programs aimed at the health and well-being of Fontana's families.

Both also understand there is much work still to be done, and search for answers to the city's most pressing problems - among them, filling homes emptied by foreclosure, improving crosstown traffic on Sierra Avenue and addressing inefficiencies on the 10 Freeway, a vital link in the movement of goods throughout the nation.

Their understanding of these complex issues is evident. Both will continue to lobby for federal dollars needed to relieve congestion on the freeway and Sierra Avenue. As Rutherford told us, "We don't believe it's a Fontana problem. It's a national problem."

Warren, like Rutherford, wants to promote policies that put families into vacant homes. By partnering with community groups and local churches to maintain properties, Warren believes the city can be a leader in rebuilding neighborhoods hard hit by the mortgage crisis.

Rutherford and Warren are champions for families in Fontana. Since her election to the City Council in 2000, Rutherford has helped increase recreational opportunities for Fontana's youth and created the Community Assistance Program, which links volunteers to people who need help. Warren established the city's Healthy Fontana

program to motivate residents to live well and her passion for helping others infuses her work.

Fontana's successes over the past several years are thanks in large part to the efforts of these women. Though tough economic times may cast shadows over the city's plans for the future, both have proven they have the determination needed to keep Fontana moving ahead.

Vote Rutherford and Warren for Fontana City Council.
